CHRISTINA ARNOLD

Hi, my name is Christina. I am very lucky to be a mum to 3 grown up children & also have 2 amazing grandbabies. I decided to train as a Midwife when my youngest was 2 years old. I had to go back to college to complete an access to Higher Education Course. Then when my youngest started school, I managed to get a place at Bournemouth University. 3 years later in 2012 I graduated with a BSc (Hons) 1st Degree in Midwifery. Truly one of the proudest days of my life.

 

Since then I have been working hard within the NHS, to provide the very best care possible, to all of the people in my caseload. Generally, averaging around 60 to 70 clients at any time. I found it increasingly frustrating to not be able to provide the continuity of care, that I know is the safest & most rewarding care; for my clients, but also myself. Seeing the difference continuity makes is such a privilege. There is nothing more rewarding than being with a family you have built up a trusting relationship with during their pregnancy & supporting them to during birth to welcome their new baby into their lives. It is a complete privilege to be present at a birth & it never gets any less exciting!

So, in 2023, I decided to take the leap into Independent Midwifery. Unsure of so many things, but I never once waivered in my belief that it was my calling. To provide gold standard, continuity of care, to as many clients as possible. To provide tailored support, encouragement & empowerment to achieve their perfect birth. To give the time they need, so at no point do they feel alone or scared. It is what I was put on this earth to do.

 

Emma Reynolds from IOW Independent Midwifery & I work very closely together. Our very similar ethos & core values makes us a really great team. All of my clients will also get to meet Emma on their pregnancy journey as she is likely to be attending your birth if you decide to birth at home. Knowing your birth support team means you feel safe & maximizes your amazing labour hormones!
